Marine fare eligibility
Fares displayed on CrewLink are denoted as either Special Fares, or Published Fares. Available in many markets, a “Special” or Marine fare does not require an advance purchase, may be booked one-way, and does not require a minimum stay. Marine fares typically are fully refundable, and do not have a change penalty.
Important Information Regarding Marine Fare Eligibility
Marine fares are available only to active crewmembers either working onboard a commercial vessel scheduled for leave, or in the process of joining a ship for employment purposes. An active seaman must be able to produce upon demand one of the following documents to verify employment.
- Valid current Seaman’s book
- Original Letter of Employment from an authorized Crewing Agency
- Engineers and/or contractors traveling to carry out work on a vessel in dock who will be added to ship’s manifest.
- Concessionaires working onboard a cruise liner, such as hairdressers and on-board entertainment who are in possession of a valid letter of employment.
Any person not able to produce these documents upon demand by the airline may be denied boarding, and will be required to purchase a replacement ticket at whatever applicable fare exists at that time.
In addition to the above proof of employment, crewmembers may require visas and/or other state issued documentation as well as valid passport to travel internationally. Europe USA accepts no responsibility should a crewmember not be in possession of the proper documentation to board any flight.
